Readers of the blog might start getting sick of my obsession with Animal Collective, but I would immediately argue with those readers and ask them to open their ears a bit more. In fact, I think this band has actually dwarfed Phish for me in terms of pure musical excitement. This band just constantly keeps me guessing and I’m really pleased to see how well the band came off on Late Show with David Letterman last night. The three pillars of Merriweather Post Pavilion groove behind flashing lights while robed dancers circle and noodle dance like they were attending a Phish concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion — chew on that piece of meta musical goodness and watch the clip below really loud.

I really do love their new album, if even just for its pure originality.
This take on “Summertime Clothes” was very true to the album cut, which I really like. I think this was a good song choice for TV, as it's definitely one of the more accessible songs on the album. That said, I am still surprised they played letterman. I guess late night TV has emerged as a spot for more independent artists these days, huh?
Sidenote…what is it about this tune that reminds me of They Might Be Giants??? it's like some random synth or horn sound that I can't quite put a finger on . whatever it is, it's hitting on some nostalgic musical nerve and I am digging it. Rock on AC.
