The 40 minute jams are great, but I agree they can be excessive. I think Moe. will be always be one of the best jam bands but I'm not sure if they can make new material like their previous classics. I just hope they'll be back at the Saranac brewery in June.

Eh, I don't see them quitting too soon, but I've lost interest. Three shows in a row in 2006 where they opened the second set with a 40+ minute jam and I started yawning. They're still fun at festivals, but I stopped spending my money to see them alone.

I agree with alexb that moe will be moe, but at the same time, I do believe that their albums are great examples of original work. Whether it be within their mold, they are still fresh and continue compared to many other things going on in music. I would rather check out a band that keeps an original sound stays within that sound rather than one that tries to progress and fails like many bands have done in the past (ah-hem, string cheese, although I am a huge fan).

moe will be moe, they never seemed to really branch out much, but then again never sold out or went pop, stayed a solid jam/rock band leaning more toward traditional rock and do their thing well. a solid band, nothing really too flashy, or progressive even.

i just think they are trying to prevent a burnout, and fewer shows a year should help with that. but i'm glad to see them back; moe. kicks ass
