That being said, Slash could not play half the shit on these songs--he's just not technically proficient. I would say a some of the songs are typical GnR with a bit of a modern edge (the title cut and Better are two examples). There was a Time being along the lines of a Estranged in it's epic-ness. Message For You is quite a departure, sounding like an adult contemporary song at the start--but this has grown to be a favorite. Love this song. If the World Ends Today is different as well, with a 70's vibe to it. All in all, from the songs I've heard, the album should be pretty diverse. Whether one wants to accept the fact that it's GnR or just Axl is irrelevant to the end result, which is some pretty good music.
