I think that something will happen to improve the situation, and maybe the changes that occur will cause things to be the way they should have been all along, after all we find ourselves in this current situation partly because of our wasteful use of gas.
Something I'm going to look into retrofitting our van with are these HHO kits I'm hearing more about. They apparently extract Hydroxy gas simply from water and improve your mileage a great deal. That and van pooling should make a huge difference for us.

Appreciate the comments...its a salient issue that needs to be addressed. The US could take some cues from Canada and the monetary help they provide artist from up north.

And, before I forget, great rundown of the situation Andrew, certainly a level-headed assessment of the issues at hand and where things are going.

I definitely know of one mid-sized festival band that got out of the West coast to head to Chicago, simply because they recognized how difficult it was to tour out there in terms of mileage, and 5-8 years later it's certainly paying off for them, but it's a sacrifice for many bands to say the least.
