<description>Battles is one of the most amazing bands I have ever seen live. I saw them in Webster Hall New York last spring og and they were absolutely amazing and creted this very intense athmosphere of hypnotic sound that just pulled you in. I didnt know them much, and its hard to say how much of the stuff was improvised, but it really doesnt matter. They are amazing. Go see them if you get the chance. I produce chill out and downbeat for my own band Ganga and other acts, and their work is a great inspiration to me. Even though its very different from what I do myself. Their first EP - just called Battles - is full of the most beautiful sounds and athmospheres, most of it captured live playing I think.
Their live setup is so cool too. With the drummer in front, controlling the pace.
Fantastic - where have they been all my life.
Enjoy them when you can!
