Rev. Payton's Big Damn Band

“Dunno if you’ve heard this band ever. They are so damn awesome. There is a guy w/ an acoustic guitar, Rev. Peyton, his wife on the washboard, and his brother on drums. And thats it. So awesome, check em out, give em a blog. They are worthy cause I saw them play @ Summerfest in Milwaukee before a crowd full of Flogging Molly fans. All of these rocking Vans Warped Tour rockin and rollers were standing up and dancing their asses off by the show’s midpoint.”

Actually, I have seen Reverend Payton’s Big Damn Band — it was at Summer Camp 2005. For anyone else that has seen these guys, what did you think? Are they the real deal or is it all shtick?

Quick post today, folks. I’m entertaining my good friend while he’s in town for the holidays…

For this week’s Phish Friday, enjoy some video clips one and two from Phish, 2/16/97.

Hi there, folks…

It’s that time again where I solicit submissions from you, the readers. This blog is only as cool as the music I like or the shows that I see (that’ll be changing soon)…and I love reading about other music, too. I think you do, also…

See a kickass show last night? See Trey Anastasio freebase some cocaine? Have a great news and/or rumor tip? Send it my way and I’ll share it with the rest of the group.

One love. I love you, too.

(lineup updated 2/22)

Immediately following Summer Camp 2006, there was news that this festival was going to disappear following petitions to get this festival to move elsewhere. No more Chillicothe, they say. Too many friggin’ drug problems in too short of period of time…

Soon after that, we were pleased to see that they got their shit together and did what’s best for the locals — they decided to keep the festival at Three Sisters Park for years to come.

I’ve attended this festival personally two years in a row and I’ve had tremendous fun on both occasions. I’d suggest planning your Memorial Day weekend around this if you have the wherewithal. We’ll try to have updates right here on Live Music Blog, so check back for that and let us know if you’ll be going.

Merry Christmas

by Justin Ward on Dec 25, 06

in Features

I’m not sure I do this enough, so I thought I’d send a hearty Merry Christmas to anyone and everyone that likes to call Live Music Blog part of their online experience. I’ve been in quite a bah humbug state lately and it’s hard to get away from that attitude to reflect on what the holidays really mean. One thing is clear, though — I’m lucky to be in a position to do what I love on a daily basis and I’m lucky to be able to be a part of a great, little niche online community.

I hope everyone’s holiday is as relaxing and enjoyable as it can be. Some updates will be coming over the break and I’m looking forward to a fantastic 2007!

Very sincerely,
Justin Ward // Editor
