Busy day today and some live mp3′s from The Slip are getting me through it…

You know — it was really hard for me to get into this band at first but I persisted. I knew I wanted to like it but it just seemed like too much of an acquired taste for me for quite a while. Just now — like the last three months — has it started to set in…

What do you guys think? The Slip — good/bad? Too indie and experimental? Too jammy and wanky? None of the above?

sleepyhollow_02.jpgMany live music fans know that there are a couple special dates throughout the year where a few bands take their concerts to the next level — namely, Halloween and New Year’s Eve being the first ones that come to mind…

Vegoose takes this concept and effectively runs with it; Halloween weekend should be filled with amazingly awesome live shows and where better to take Halloween than Las Vegas. It makes perfect sense, really…

Both the Benevento/Russo Duo and STS9 have finalized their Halloween plans, specifically for Oct. 31. Let’s see who else might have some Halloween tricks up their sleeves…

A while back I tried to get Live Music Blog Podcasts into the iTunes Music Store and for some reason it just didn’t take. It took me a while to figure out why but I finally (just now) got the podcasts to be listed in their search results for podcasts (thanks Eric for the hack). Check it out here

Soon after I got the podcast listing confirmed, I checked out my FeedBurner podcast stats and they had jumped up a little bit to over the 100 subscriber mark. Yehaw for that.

Keep comin’ back for more podcasting in the future and thanks to all who subscribe already…

Enjoy this video of Mute Math rockin’ “Chaos” on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

As a side note, I’m not sure that I’ve ever been interested in watching his show simply for the fact that he was too annoying on the Drew Carey Show. Feel free to debate that amongst yourselves…

RANA Web Love

Andrew from RANA stopped by the site and dropped me a line on their new website at RANA.com. Arguably, it’s the first and only band website I’ve seen to effectively mix YouTube, Flickr, Blogger, and Google Calendar into one fully functioning professional web presence…

Kudos on that…

They’re playing a show at CBGB’s on Sept. 13; get advanced tickets here.

To show my reverse patronage correctly, I’ll be jamming out to some Rana (or their covers) on the Archive today and you should, too…

Nickel Creek has announced that they’re breaking up at the end of next year. How nice of them to give their fans so much notice…

After seven years of extensive touring in support of three records (seventeen years as a band), we’ve decided to take a break of indefinite length at the end of 2007 to preserve the environment we’ve sought so hard to create and to pursue other interests. It has been a pleasure to write, record, and perform for you through the years and we’d like to heartily thank you for your invaluable contribution to our musical lives.

Yours,
Nickel Creek
(Sean, Sara, and Chris)

My buddy John and I chatted about the band recently and he really enjoyed their set at Lollapalooza 2006. Bummer to see them go…

Ever since I picked up a copy of Wilco’s Kicking Television, I’ve been a big fan of their music, sound, DIY attitude, constantly changing fashion statements, etc. etc.

Enjoy some recent live Wilco tracks that I’m currently enjoying (lovingly poached from Muzzle of Bees).
