From HeadCount.org…

In sweltering ninety-degree heat, HeadCount kicked off the “Midterms Matter Tour,” this past weekend by registering over 300 voters at the Summer Camp festival in Chillicothe, IL.

Katie and I were two of those 300. They had a volunteer walking around to the stage areas with clipboards setup so that people could register while watching the bands. That was pretty nice actually — watching Umphrey’s McGee from the back of the Main Stage area by the shade and registering to vote in the upcoming midterm elections; I was relaxed and productive at the same time. :)

They’re on the road this summer to support the cause, and I’m fully onboard to help spread that message. Go see the booth at your favorite concert or music festival this summer, and register to vote now if you haven’t already.

“We want to be the sparkplug that gets all of America talking about voting again.” – Marc Brownstein (Bisco)

From Bonnaroo.com…

VIP TICKETS ARE NOW SOLD OUT!

Regular tickets remain but are selling briskly and are expected to sell out as well. We urge you to act soon and purchase your tickets if you are planning to attend this year’s Bonnaroo Music Festival.

Yeah, I mean, if there was any year that Bonnaroo wouldn’t sell out, this year would be that year based on the lineup discussions alone.

However, I think Superfly might know a thing or two more than me when it comes to selling Bonnaroo tickets, so let’s take their word on this one. Get tickets now. If you show up and put a finger in the air and I see you, you will be publicly humiliated on Live Music Blog. You have been warned.

I like links. Links are good.

To aspiring musicians, Busta Rhymes says “Patience is the best weapon.”

Eric Clapton’s US tour (with Derek Trucks) will be starting 9/16 in St. Paul, MN. He’s doing one wild Euro tour before the states, including a 7-night (!!!) run at London’s Royal Albert Hall and a night in Moscow’s Red Square — very cool.

Taylor Hicks won American Idol. I didn’t watch one second of this season. Congrats to Taylor, though — he’ll forever be in my mom and grandma’s heart. :)

News flash: there were drug arrests at Summer Camp this weekend. That, and some dude had the night terrors on Sunday night. Man he was freaked out…

Announcing: the Old School House Party in Austin, TX on 6/17, featuring the C-staff of old school hip-hop (Kurtis Blow, Wonder Mike and Master Gee of the Sugar Hill Gang, DJ Spinderella of Salt & Peppa, DJ Wiz of Kid & Play and from the Bad Boyz of Comedy comedian/ impressionist Reggie Reg). Headline of the week: Secret Machines Are Tired Of Talking About Their Impressive Friends

From Yahoo.com…

National CineMedia, a digital distributor of concerts for movie theaters, has nailed down nonexclusive content agreements with two leaders in the concert business, Live Nation and Network Live.

The latter is a joint venture among AOL, XM Satellite Radio and promoter AEG Live, which means that, ultimately, NCM has the two largest promoters in the world committed to bringing it concerts.
