Bonnaroo Headliners Rumor Confirmed (Kinda)

Update (2/1/06): Bonnaroo 2006 Lineup Announced!

From Productshop NYC…

The three headliners of Bonnaroo are Radiohead, Tom Petty, and Beck!!!

Wow, Bonnaroo 2006 is going to be an interesting year with excellent choices as headliners; I can only imagine what the full lineup is going to look like. Just one thing, though–Beck? I’m not sure he can fill a full headlining spot.

Note: this is still not official. We haven’t heard anything from Superfly yet.

I guess it’s hard to know what they’re going to do here.

I’m thinking that you guys might be right about the slots (i.e. not necessarily the headliner spot but maybe the pre-set).

I agree I dont want to see Radiohead, Beck, or Tom Petty. I think they should have some of the same bands like Trey, Allmans, DMB, The Dead. Put O.A.R. at a bigger stage and dont schedule it during three great shows like last year. Also no band should be able to play two nights like WSP. Bands like moe. and OAR and stuff need more time to play to. Last DONT have Beck, Petty, and Radiohead after all they dont even really fit into the scene.

I think that’s the point, though. They’re trying to bring in a wider, more-diverse crowd as opposed to wookiees only…

It already is diverse and I dont know what wookiees are but I know I dont want it to be people who can’t enjoy jambands like teeny boppers and stuff. No offense to those bands but the just don’t fit in. Look at all the past Bonnaroo line ups Bob Dylan would be great again but he fits in. My bottom line thought no to Petty, Radiohead, and Beck. YEA for DMB, Allmans, Trey, The Dead Etc.

Lets see, Tom Petty was set to be one of the headliners for Bonnaroo NE, Beck play the Veagoose this past Oct and can’t seen why he wouldn’t play Bonnaroo, and last but not least Radiohead can jam out like Trey,Allman, and the Dead. There are so many times you can have the later Headline the festival before people lose interest.I think its preference of what you like and many people that go to Bonnaroo are very open minded to bands like Radiohead and Beck.

If I remember right the headliner plays from 8-12 and there is no way any of those bands could play that long. I thinking two hours tops. If they are there then give I betting they have earlier times like 3-5 or something like that.

Amazing. You don’t think Radiohead could play that long? OR Headline this show? Have you ever heard live Radiohead? Not only could they, they SHOULD be headlining this show. Plus they can jam like a muthafukas, which I think…I believe… should fit with the scene nicely.

I have seen Radiohead jam out as well, the can play that late night spot to a tee. I went to the 2004 “Roo” and DM and friends didn’t play the full 3.5 hours..They cut their set short by an hour and the same goes from last year when Dave had the band with him.

I don’t get how Bob Dylan fits into the roo “scene” but not Tom Petty? Furthermore, Petty could rock the house for 4 hours AND THEN SOME. And why on earth would you want repeat performances from Dave & Friends and Trey? I think the world has had MORE than their fill of those two for a while.

I think Radiohead, Beck and Petty are a welcome addition to any festival lineup. Even if not in the headlining spot, they are great additions.

Who would you all prefer as headliners if not those three? One rule – you CAN’T say someone who has already headlined…
