Now playing: Disco Biscuits – Digital Buddha

With the Jam in the ‘Dam festival approaching (note: that still sucks they had to change their name because of Heineken), I’m curious…

Who’s going to this badboy? I know that Umphrey’s McGee announced they had some extra tickets a couple weeks ago. I’d love to be able to go to this. Too late now.

I’d love to hear or post any stories you’ve got once you get back. Any of my faithful readers, anyone anyone?

Well, I’m pleased to report I’m off of vacation from Naples, FL. I had a blast and I got to relax and prepare to wish to relax more.

Hopefully, this blog will see some updates this weekend. I would give you my TO-DO list, but I figure that someone just might hold me accountable for that. Plus, I really just don’t know until I feel it…

moe. – 2.19.04 – Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL
I debated going to this show, but I ultimately decided that this is not the way to go. The one and only time I’ve seen moe. was at the Aragon, and I never seem to see a good show at this venue. This setlist does look hot, and I haven’t downloaded a moe. show in a while, so let’s check this one out together.

Umphrey’s McGee – 2.18.05 – Barrymore Theater, Madison, WI
I’m going to Umphrey’s McGee at the Riv on March 26, the day before Easter. See you there…

Dave Matthews Band – 10.31.96 – McNichols Arena, Denver, CO
I used to be a huge Dave Matthews Band fan before they started getting stale to me. This was their prime if you ask me.

Got any others that you’ve downloaded lately that are too hot to pass up? Drop me a line at justin AT livemusicblog.com.

Also, Chris has added a “Suggested Listening” section to his personal blog that is quite a good idea. Look for something like this in the near future.

Six days. That is how long until the new The Mars Volta album, Frances the Mute, streets. You might as well visit their website, or listen to De-Loused in the Comatorium so you can prepare yourself and prevent your ass from getting blown off.

If you like bluegrass (and you should), Old Crow Medicine Show has finished a video for the song “Tell It To Me”. You can see it here. It is live footage from several performances, with the audio track also taken from a live performance. Take a rip of tobaccy and watch yer spittin’!

Well, the day is fast approaching (April 26) for the release of the new Eels, DOUBLE CD, Blinking Lights and Other Revelations. You can preview four new tracks by clicking here. New tracks are added each week, up until the release. This dual-action album will have a total of 33 songs!!! Thirty-three? That’s unpossible!

Eels are my favorite band, ever. I am pumped up about this (I have been beating my chest and roaring a LOT). Can’t wait!

Now playing: – Vacate

Seriously now, Florida is not the best vacation spot if you’re a live music lover. Well, you could probably see some pretty crappy Jimmy Buffett ripoffs in Key West. I got to witness that my sophomore year in college. Unless you’re throwing a big festival down here, there’s really no scene. Certain bands will roll through when they feel like rolling through, but I see no scene down here at all. That’s a huge change from my Chicago stomping grounds.

How do Florida music fans deal?

The Live Music Blog would like to announce that we will be on vacation for the next week. It’s all explained on melody to funkytown.

I should be posting at least some stuff all week, so stay heady.

Now playing: STS9 – Breathe In – 9.3.04 – Vic Theater – Chicago, IL As I waited for the bus this evening on my way home from work, I was jamming to Umphrey’s McGee’s New Year’s Eve show this past year. The entire year was amazing for Umphrey’s McGee. They really made a good name [...]
