glide magazine has posted their new free download of the month. it’s a recent show by perpetual groove, who is supposedly a great new up-and-comer in the jamband scene. i’m going to check it out. also, be sure to check out their live music download archives, where you can find many a hidden gem (read more)

also on perpetual groove, they’re going to be playing their live tour in surround sound. now THAT is cool.

headcount.org, your friendly neighborhood jamband political organization, has got some of the heaviest hitters of the jamband world doing tv spots on some cable networks, including tnt and tbs. i’m interested in seeing one. does that mean that i’m supposed to watch tnt and tbs now?

les claypool has released some news on his newest project, colonel claypool’s bucket of bernie brains, will be releasing their first album very shortly. the big eyeball in the sky. i guess i never thought to download some of their early stuff, but i never realized that their shows before hand were completely improvised. now that’s a jamband if i’ve ever heard one.

as i listen to the mp3 samples posted on their website, i’m intrigued. i’m enthralled. i’m confused. is it prog-rock? is it reggae? is buckethead real?

phish manager, john paluska has issued a statement regarding the phish coventry festival and the problems associated with that bittersweet weekend in all of our lives. i guess i’m unsure of how i feel about all of this. on the one hand, i’m left with a horrible taste in my mouth regarding the entire situation. on the completely opposite hand, phish, great northeast productions, and the vermont state police did everything that they could do at that moment.

statement from phish’s manager, john paluska on coventry

point of the story: they will be issuing refunds, issuing a limited edition book, and free downloads from livephish.com. i’m jealous.

the beastie boys are continuing to add more tour dates. when are they going to announce chicago? i’d like to at least see them one more time before they all become foreign ambassadors or something like that.

although not jamband related, i like the foo fighters. they’re planning on releasing some new discs soon. this sounds awesome.

foo fighters plan on releasing two discs with a tour to follow

thanks to glide magazine for the scoop.

i’ve really been checking out all the articles and photos posted of the coventry festival this past weekend. some of the pictures have been posted elsewhere, but this does a good job to show some of the emotion and some of the mud that the phans had to endure. i’d also suggest scouring the phantasy phish message boards, as it appears many phans have posted their own personal slideshows. check some of them here (franckedesign.com) and here (coventryphish.com).

here is an account of the weekend from a phan that truly felt what phish has provided to the music world and the entire jamband community. i really can’t wait to see what happens next.

david taus : this has all been wonderful

this “fan” apparently worked at coventry over the weekend. that would suck to have to work and not be able to enjoy the concert.

raminta : phucking phantastic

i feel for this guy. i’ve definitely felt as though i missed out on one major movement in american music history by never seeing the grateful dead live. this guy missed out on two.

brian storm : phish done

an account from one of the premier members of the phish community, zzyzx, the creator of the very fun phish stats (or phishtistics).
